NEW YORK, Aug 19 - U.S. stocks fell at the open on Tuesday as government data showed underlying inflation is picking up speed and investors worried that the credit crisis was far from over.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 75.88 points, or 0.66 percent, at 11,403.51. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 5.85 points, or 0.46 percent, at 1,272.75. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 11.56 points, or 0.48 percent, at 2,405.42.
